Why Croxena
The difference a deliberate approach makes
A measured engagement, written deliverables, and an adviser who works directly with the principal — the case for choosing Croxena over faster alternatives.

What you can expect from an engagement
A written note you keep
The core deliverable of each engagement is a considered written document — not a deck, not a summary of talking points. It can be shared with your board, revisited over months, and used to inform decisions you have not yet made.
Direct access throughout
The person you meet at the start is the person who writes the note and sits in every session. Your work is not passed to a junior team member once the engagement is confirmed.
Scope fixed in advance
Each engagement has a defined scope, a fixed fee, and a clear timeline agreed in writing before work begins. There are no supplementary invoices for sessions that ran long.
Full discretion
Financial information and operational details shared during an engagement are held in strict confidence. Croxena does not reference its clients in any external context.
Independence with no follow-on interest
We do not hold equity positions, take referral fees, or maintain an implementation arm. The advice is shaped only by what we read in the firm's record.
Malaysian context, thoroughly understood
We are based in Kuala Lumpur and familiar with the regulatory environment, the capital structures typical to local firms, and how decisions tend to move within Malaysian businesses.
Expertise
Fifteen years reading firms in difficulty
The pattern-recognition that comes from years of reading management accounts across different sectors — retail, professional services, light manufacturing, distribution — is not something that can be replicated with a framework. It comes from time spent with the numbers and with the principals who own them.
- Sector experience spanning services, manufacturing and distribution
- Familiarity with common Malaysian cost and capital structures
- Track record of engagements completed without escalation or scope change
Croxena is recognised as a management advisory practice operating under Malaysian commercial law, holding appropriate professional indemnity cover for advisory engagements.

How an engagement moves
- 01
Initial conversation — no fee, no obligation. We understand the firm's situation broadly and determine whether an engagement fits.
- 02
Written confirmation of scope, deliverables, timeline, and fee. Work begins only after this is agreed.
- 03
Working sessions — the principal and adviser work through the operating record together, at a pace that allows proper absorption.
- 04
Delivery of the written note, followed by a session to discuss it. The note remains with the principal as a standing document.
Process
A structured process with no loose ends
Each engagement follows a clear structure from initial conversation to final note. There are no mid-engagement surprises on scope or billing, and no ambiguity about what the deliverable will be.
- Written agreement before first working session
- Fixed number of sessions per engagement tier
- Written note reviewed internally before delivery
Client Experience
An engagement that respects the principal's time
Sessions are scheduled to fit the principal's calendar. Documentation is prepared in advance so time in the room is spent on substance, not logistics. The follow-up call after delivery is booked at the principal's convenience.
- Sessions scheduled around the principal's availability
- Preparatory materials distributed before each session
- Single point of contact throughout the engagement
Value and pricing
Fixed fees, stated in advance
All three engagements are fixed-fee, denominated in Malaysian Ringgit, and agreed before work begins. There are no hourly rates, no variable components, and no supplementary charges.

What Makes Us Different
The features that are uncommon in this field
The Restoration Note — a single-question engagement
Most advisory practices do not offer a written response to a single, bounded question. The Restoration Note fills that gap — fifteen hundred considered words, two weeks, one follow-up call. At RM 940, it allows a principal to obtain an independent perspective on one decision before committing to fuller work.
No implementation, by design
Many consulting firms offer implementation services alongside advisory work — which creates a structural incentive to recommend complexity. Croxena does not implement. The advice is shaped entirely by what the firm's situation calls for, not by what would generate follow-on work.
Cost conversation that covers the hidden layers
The Cost Conversation engagement is not simply a line-by-line cost review. It specifically looks at costs that have quietly accumulated — services once needed and no longer needed, contracts left to auto-renew, cost lines that predate the current operating model. This layer is where the most recoverable room tends to sit.
A first conversation at no charge
Before any engagement is agreed, there is a free initial conversation — typically thirty to forty-five minutes — to understand the firm's situation and determine whether an engagement fits. If it does not, we say so and the conversation ends there.
